Maldivians follow the Muslim religion and you should follow some rules in order to respect this. While you are visiting inhabited islands, wear appropriate clothing, such as t-shirts and short trousers that cover the shoulders and legs. Avoid kissing in public and don’t be surprised if you hear prayers 5 times per day through loudspeakers. The population is very friendly and they are happy to talk with people from other countries! When you greet someone in the street , he will probably respond by lifting up his eyebrows: this is their way to say hello!
